Before you fly into Cape Town Airport, it really does pay to plan ahead and book your accommodation prior to your arrival, especially if you are visiting between mid-December and early January, or at Easter. This is a very large and spreading South African city and so you will need to think carefully whether you want to stay in the suburbs by the Atlantic beaches and the False Bay, or in the more central City Bowl and Gardens areas.

Each year the airport receives vast numbers of tourists, who come to enjoy the abundant natural, historical, cultural and recreational highlights of the Western Cape, such as the walking trails and cable car rides to the very top of the famous Table Mountain, whilst looking for hotels or similar accommodation.

Although many popular hotels are not located within the airport grounds, most are just a short drive away, with a large number supplying transport to and from the airport. Cape Town: City Hotels and Accommodation
Central Cape Town attracts numerous businesspeople as well as tourists, and many hotels, including the immensely popular Mount Nelson, offer business and conference facilities in addition to recreational and convenience amenities. The city centre lies approximately 25 km / 15.5 miles west of Cape Town Airport (CPT), with accommodation located in various districts around the region.
Many people visiting Cape Town choose to stay at the numerous hotels close to the beaches, with lodging being particularly concentrated around the Cape Peninsula and the Clifton area. Further accommodation is situated close to the spectacular Victoria and Albert Waterfront complex, where you will find an array of leisure activities, eateries and shops.
A good selection of hotels is located around both Green Point and Sea Point, two notable suburbs of Cape Town, offering excellent value for money and generally suiting those on a budget. Accommodation can also be found in the Constantia area, in the affluent Southern Suburbs, and throughout the nearby town Hermanus, which is known for its seasonal whale watching.
